CopyCat
Perfect for partners, this game lets clients try their hand at being the trainer…
Players: 2+ in even numbers (or one trainer and any number of clients)
Equipment: None (Boot Camp Equipment Guide)
Game: The object of this game is simple: players try to mimic the moves of another player or the trainer (the leader). The leader can do whatever exercises they want but I find it is best used as a warm-up game, restricted to warm-up type exercises. The best setup is to have the two individuals stand opposite each other, with a line between them, like the two individuals are looking in a mirror, which allows for running up and down the line. The object for the copycat is to not fall more than 2 exercises behind the leader. This is quite hard to police and you will often have to use the honor system. In reality though, I find most clients find it to be so much fun and quick thinking that they don’t care much about who wins or loses. A simple way to play is to have one person be the leader for 60 seconds while the other is the copycat, and then switch.
Variations:
- Sloppy Copycat: The copycat gets one “Catch-up” card which they can play by verbally calling “Catch-up”. When called, the leader must stop and perform 5 burpees before continuing (the copycat doesn’t have to do the burpees – it’s their chance to catch up!).
