Squat Tag

Dead-simple fitness tag that’s great for large groups and is quite flexible…

Players: 4+

Equipment: None, Large Space

Game: Quite simply, take the normal rules of freeze tag but allow the players to “unfreeze” themselves ONLY by completing a certain number of squats – other players can’t “unfreeze” them.  So the tagger(s) have a goal of making all the players “frozen” by tagging them as quickly as they can.  If at any time all players are frozen, the tagger(s) win(s).  Make sure you set a time limit for the tagger(s) – about 3 or 4 minutes is good.  You can play multiple game in a row and keep changing the exercise/reps needed to “unfreeze”.

Pro tip: Choose exercises that wont endanger people running around them.  For example, burpees would be bad here because they could trip someone running behind them.

Variation:

  • Quarantine: Tagged players must run to a Quarantine Zone somewhere off to the side of the tagging area to complete their reps and unfreeze before returning.
